Juan José Yepes Núñez

Chief Executive Officer

Physician and allergist, with an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology and a PhD in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University. Methodologist for the World Health Organization iCAM guideline in Geneva, and external member of its Guideline Review Committee from 2022 to 2026. Director of the Colombia GRADE Network and co-author of the GRADE 19 and 20 methodological guidelines. Assistant professor and coordinator of the Epidemiology graduate programmes at Universidad de los Andes, and allergist at Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá.

Andrés Mauricio García Sierra

Director of Public Health and Policy Research

Physician. Master's degrees in Public Health and in Public Policy, and a PhD in Public Affairs from the University of Central Florida, focused on health services administration. He specialises in network meta-analysis: co-author of the study examining the transitivity assumption across 721 network meta-analyses, and of the tracenma package that implements it. He also works on GRADE-based clinical practice guidelines and health system performance.

When a project needs more capacity, we bring in associate researchers chosen for methodological profile and clinical area, always under the direction of one of the two directors. You know from the outset who does which part of the work.

World Health Organization

Methodologist for the iCAM guideline and independent consultant in Geneva since 2023, ongoing. From 2022 to February 2026 he was also an external member of the Guideline Review Committee, the committee that reviews and approves WHO guidelines. Co-author of the Regional Office for Europe manual Strengthening countries' capacities to adopt and adapt evidence-based guidelines (2023).

Pan American Health Organization

Co-author of the Guide for adapting and applying evidence-informed guidelines, second edition (PAHO, 2023), the reference document for guideline adaptation in the region.

Current

GRADE Working Group

Director of the Colombia GRADE Network since 2021. Co-author of GRADE Guidelines 19 and 20 (2018) and of the GRADE-ADOLOPMENT framework (2016), now the standard procedure for adopting and adapting guidelines. Twelve papers with GRADE in the title.

IETS Colombia

Independent consultant to Colombia's Institute for Health Technology Assessment (IETS) since 2014, the body that produces the assessments underpinning coverage decisions in the Colombian system.

Saudi Ministry of Health

Guideline methodologist from 2021 to 2023, through Elsevier. This included adapting chronic kidney disease guidelines to the Saudi context with GRADE-ADOLOPMENT, published in Saudi J Kidney Dis Transpl (2024).

EpiDriver

Andrés García has been Chief Scientific Officer of this Panama City non-profit since 2024. It works at the border between epidemiology, climate and public health in Latin America: epidemiological surveillance, predictive modelling and nationwide data analysis. That collaboration produced the comparative analysis of national health strategies across Latin America and Africa (2026) and the review of adaptive designs in vaccine trials (2025).

Universidad de los Andes

The academic home both directors share. Our CEO is assistant professor and coordinator of the Epidemiology postgraduate programmes; Andrés García has been an instructor in the School of Medicine since 2018, teaching quantitative methods and health systems on the Master of Public Health and the medical degree. It is also where he read medicine and took his Master of Public Health and his Master of Public Policy.

Doctoral and postdoctoral training

McMaster University, the birthplace of GRADE: our CEO took his PhD in Health Research Methodology and his MSc in Clinical Epidemiology there. University of Central Florida: Andrés García's PhD in Public Affairs, specialising in health services management, on a Fulbright-Minciencias scholarship. He is now a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Chicago.

International scientific societies

Methodology for the ARIA-EAACI allergic rhinitis guidelines (2016, 2025, 2026), the American Society of Hematology venous thromboembolism guidelines (2018, 2019) and the World Allergy Organization GLAD-P guidelines. Consultant to EAACI (2018-2019).

Editorial responsibilities

Associate editor of Clinical and Public Health Guidelines (Wiley) and of the World Allergy Organization Journal. Reviewer for Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, Allergy, BMJ Open, BMJ Global Health and Quality of Life Research, among others. Grant proposal reviewer for Minciencias (Colombia) and FONDECYT-CONCYTEC (Peru).

How we work

First the question, then the evidence

The most common mistake in applied research is looking for information before pinning down exactly what has to be decided. The result is a bulky report nobody can use.

Our process has four stages, and the first takes the most time.

Framing. We pin down the decision, who makes it, who it has to stand up to and which outcomes matter.
Protocol. We set the method down in writing before we look at the data. That is what makes the work reproducible.
Execution. Dual review where appropriate, documented decisions, discrepancies resolved by consensus or a third reviewer.
Delivery. Output in the format the decision requires: evidence profile, guideline, dossier or manuscript. Plus a handover session with your team.

Operational trust

Methodological integrity and data handling

When the buyer is a ministry, a multilateral agency or an ethics committee, these safeguards stop being a legal detail and become a selection criterion.

Independence of judgement

The funder sets the question and supplies information, but plays no part in rating certainty or drawing the conclusion. If a commission requires a result decided in advance, we turn it down.

Declaration of conflicts

Everyone involved in a project declares financial and intellectual interests. We publish the declaration alongside the output.

Data handling

We operate under Colombian Law 1581 of 2012 (data protection) and submit every protocol that requires it to an ethics committee.
